Assistant Professorships
Assistant professorships at the University of Bern are awarded with or without tenure track (TT), i.e., with or without the assurance of obtaining a permanent position after a successful evaluation.
Assistant professors take on tasks in research and teaching within their respective institute or another organizational unit, with a view to their scientific qualification for an academic career. Assistant professors are independent and responsible within their research and teaching duties.
The title of assistant professor is also awarded to early-career researchers who hold a SNSF Starting Grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation or who have successfully obtained funding from the European Research Council. There are also other specific funding programs that include the title of assistant professor.
