Funding opportunities in academic careers vary depending on the career stage. During the doctorate, options are usually limited, but after completing a doctorate, there are significantly more avenues for funding.
Doctorate
During the doctoral phase, funding is usually provided through employment in research projects or through institute-specific resources. Independent funding applications are rarely possible. A few scholarship programs are open to certain disciplines.
After the doctorate
After completing your doctorate, there are numerous national and international funding instruments available. These support both further academic qualification and the development of independent research projects. Some programs also include options for returning after a stay abroad.
