Graduate Schools
Graduate schools offer research-integrated, structured coursework that encompasses a wide range of activities and measures to advance subject-specific, methodological and transversal knowledge and skills, and provide ample networking opportunities.
Graduate schools have an interdisciplinary and, in some cases, interuniversity orientation. Their thematic foci are primarily on teaching and research fields in which the University of Bern is particularly strong and which are entrenched as key areas or functional strategies in the university’s overarching strategy.
Some graduate schools have multiple programs under a single umbrella.
Regulations
A few graduate schools have their own regulations governing doctoral studies. Doctoral candidates at graduate schools that do not have their own regulations complete their doctorate in accordance with the regulations governing doctoral studies of their respective faculty of origin.
